Project Gutenberg Launches Self-Publishing Site

Project Gutenberg has launched a new self-publishing portal for authors. Unlike the main Project Gutenberg site, which has more than 40,000 public domain titles, the new site applies copyrights to uploaded titles. Authors can, but are not required to, offer their titles under a Creative Commons license. There doesn't seem to be a mechanism for payment, so as a practical matter, all titles offered on the new site are free, but they can't be shared or redistributed without either the author's permission or appropriate Creative Commons rights. The only file format that the new site currently supports is PDF.
